I saw Merlin Mann and Mark Hurst speak on the topic of GTD and todo list software last night. Merlin’s talk at Tekserve centered around the OmniFocus app that I am beta testing now, while Mark’s focus at the SOHO Apple store was on Bit Literacy and the features of his Gootodo web service. Gootodo, seems like the best of the two. Simple easy to understand for a GTD newbie, especially with “move to the future” scheduling features. OmniFocus seems to be all about the algorithm and not really suitable to regular right minded folks, but I’m not giving up yet.

Posted in Uncategorized with tags GTD, omnifocus on September 26, 2007 by GregDon’t know the answer, so I’m trying out the OmniFocus application this week to see if it will help me “get” GTD — will also be attending Merlin Mann’s talk about OmniFocus tomorrow at Tekserve.
Why another UX blog…
Posted in Uncategorized with tags design, manxy, service, software, user_experince, ux on September 21, 2007 by GregI must have started dozens in the past and abandoned them. Why another blog? This one is different. Maybe I finally have something to say after all of this learning about UX, IA, and services design.
Ok, that’s fine. Why post my cat picture…
I can’t think of any animal in the world that exemplifies customer service and experience design better than my cat Manxy. She is demanding, so much that she doesn’t even drink water out of a bowl anymore. It has to be running out of the tap. Furthermore, she’s even taken to getting bathed by humans in the sink — so this picture captures the essence of creating services for the user — in this case Manxy. Yes, she is a spoiled customer, but aren’t they all…
How will you know if your customers want to drink from the tap and have water patted down their furry backs? You have to study them, watch their expressions, and listen to what they say or fail to say in user tests and focus groups. This is the way to test prototypes, alpha products, and beta web services… this is the title of my new blog.
